BOWDOINHAM, Maine — Maine State Police say they are investigating a case in which a woman who was found seriously injured inside her home and then died at a hospital.

Police say they responded Monday morning to the mobile home of 55-year-old Beulah “Marie” Sylvester, of Bowdoinham. They found her unresponsive.

Police say Sylvester died late Monday at Maine Medical Center in Portland. The state medical examiner’s office began an autopsy on Tuesday and needed to do more work before reaching a final conclusion.

Police say detectives spent the day inside Sylvester’s mobile home gathering evidence that will be analyzed at a crime lab. They say there is no danger to the public.

This story has been corrected to say Sylvester was known as Marie, not Mary.
