SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Authorities say three people have been taken to hospitals after being struck by an SUV that crashed into a pillar outside a Scottsdale supermarket.

Scottsdale police say the vehicle crashed after striking several people Tuesday afternoon.

It’s unclear if the people transported to hospitals were seriously injured and if the SUV’s driver was among those hurt.

The cause of the crash isn’t immediately known.

Footage from television news helicopters show the SUV up against a pillar in a patio area of the Safeway supermarket and the vehicle’s front crumpled on one side.
