Man arrested after brief chase

A man wanted in Brown County was arrested after a brief pursuit with deputies.

James M. Mitchell, 27, Trafalgar, was arrested on a charge of resisting law enforcement, possession of a restricted drug injection device, possession of paraphernalia, driving while suspended and a warrant.

Just before 9 a.m. Saturday, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to a home near Trafalgar where they believed Mitchell was, the report said.

When deputies got there, they saw two vehicles leaving and tried to stop them. One vehicle drove away and the deputy began a pursuit on County Road 750S and then onto Centerline Road before the vehicle stopped, and Mitchell got out and ran, the report said.

Deputies caught up to Mitchell along a nearby creek, where he was arrested, the report said.

Deputies found a syringe in Mitchell’s pocket and in the vehicle he was riding in, the report said.

Mitchell, 1546 W. County Road 750S, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held without bond.
