Indy 500 Festival: Five local women will vie for the princess crown

Five local women will vie to be the face of the Indy 500 in May and will act as ambassadors for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Alyssa Fain, Ariel Gastelum, Eva Li and Purva Patel, all of Greenwood, and Anna Rather of Bargersville were named Indy 500 Festival princesses.

Each Indy 500 princess receives the opportunity to be an ambassador of the race, a $1,000 scholarship and participation in the festival’s leadership program.

Festival princesses are involved with statewide outreach programs, including visits to hospitals, schools and youth programs. Princesses will volunteer at all 500 Festival events in May, attend Indianapolis Motor Speedway functions and participate in the pre-race ceremonies and the Victory Circle celebration.
