BERKELEY, Mo. — One man is dead and a utility worker struck by an errant bullet is critically injured after a shooting in St. Louis County.

Police responded Thursday afternoon to a report of a shooting in the town of Berkeley. A man in a car was shot. Another person in the car drove him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s name has not been released.

Meanwhile, a contractor working at a site for Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District a half-block away was hit by a stray bullet. He is hospitalized with what police describe as a lower body injury.
