RENO, Nev. — Reno police say the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian on South Virginia Street near Meadowood Mall is cooperating with investigators.

Police say the victim was a man who was pushing a shopping cart full of cans across the street in mid-block in the dark about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver, who remained at the scene, was traveling north on South Virginia when the accident occurred near the intersection with Sierra Center Parkway just south of the mall.

No names have been released.

Police say it’s not known if alcohol or drugs were involved.
