WOODWORTH, N.D. — Law officers have shot and killed a man after authorities say he fired at police during a chase in south-central North Dakota.

Jamestown police started pursuing the man on Highway 281 north of Jamestown just before noon Wednesday. Stutsman County sheriff’s deputies joined the chase.

KQDJ reports the suspect shot at officers during the chase. The man’s vehicle became stuck near Woodworth, and the man tried to run away and fired shots again.

Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says officers fired back, fatally wounding the man. He says no officers were hurt.

The name of the man was not released. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been called in to help with the investigation.
