SPARTANBURG, S.C. — A man has been arrested in the shooting death of his girlfriend’s new boyfriend in South Carolina.

Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Bobo said 24-year-old Andrew Ryan Murphy of Spartanburg has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old Daeshawn Brown of Moore on Sunday morning.

Murphy also faces a weapons violation in the shooting.

Coroner Charles Clevenger said Brown died Sunday morning at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Investigators think Murphy shot Brown because Murphy was angry that Brown was in a relationship with Murphy’s ex-girlfriend.

It was not known if Murphy has an attorney yet.
