Franklin planning meeting on construction projects

The city of Franklin is planning a meeting to discuss a series of construction projects planned for this year.

At the meeting, residents will be able to learn more about the what’s planned, city engineer Mark Richards said.

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at city hall, 70 E. Monroe St.

City officials also will discuss the multiple detours planned to get around projects in certain areas of the city, Richards said.

In the coming months, the city will begin work across multiple parts of the city, including reconstructing sections of Jefferson Street and King Street, as part of the city’s ongoing multimillion-dollar project to rebuild that east-west route. Work also is planned along Eastview Drive, including adding a trail along the side of the road and adding roundabouts at King Street, Hurricane Road and Upper Shelbyville Road.
