Letter: ‘Cheer’ tree not uncommon decor

To the editor:

This letter is directed toward columnist Norman Knight.

After reading your article titled “Christmas Tree Lighting Through Winter” (Jan. 24), I had to tell you about our “cheer” tree.

A few years ago, I retrieved a broken branch in our yard, an interesting six-foot shape. We stuck it in an old, brass flower pot filled with sand and attached a string of multi-colored Christmas tree lights.

Now when our Christmas tree is removed, in comes our “cheer” tree to light the gloomy days. In a few months, we will stick it in the corner of the garage for next year.

Thank you for your enjoyable article.
