Doran Glenn Miller, 71, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 14th, 2018 at Franciscan Health and Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on November 7th, 1946 in Austin, Indiana to George Thomas and Marie (Fields) Miller. Doran married Melinda Ann (Mitchell) Richardson-Miller. She lovingly survives. Other survivors include three children from mother, Suzanne Miller, Michelene (Tony) Norton; J.T. (Tara) Miller and Nancy (Jordan) King; grandchildren, Macey Norton, Mya Norton, Bryce Norton, Blakely Miller, Addisyn King and Zane King. Also surviving are three brothers, Roger (Kim) Miller, Foy Dean (Monica) Miller, Gary L. (Linnie) Miller and one sister, Ruby Miller Porter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents.

Doran was a 1964 graduate of Whiteland High School. He was a graduate of Indiana Mortuary Services and the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. He was a veteran of the United States Army, working in Central Intelligence.

Doran was a Professional Musician playing the Saxophone. He toured with “Johnny Green and The Green Men” and performed with Dr. Bop and the Headliners.

Doran began a career as a Funeral Director with Buchanan Mortuary in Austin, Indiana. He later was an EMT with an ambulance service in Indianapolis. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Thailand. After serving in the military, Doran began a career as a Police Officer with the New Whiteland Police Department, where he worked for several years. He then was employed with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and later became Johnson County Sheriff for two terms from 1987 to 1994. He later worked for the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association.

Doran was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 105, F & A M. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Rev. Kerry Huffman will conduct a celebration of Doran’s life on Tuesday, February 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana.
