Franklin graduate Murr enjoying strong track season for Manchester

Freshman sprinter Travis Murr continued his impressive indoor track season at Manchester by establishing a new personal best in the 200-meter dash at Defiance’s Dick Small Memorial Invitational.

The former Franklin athlete clocked a time of 22.85 seconds to win the event. Murr also placed second in the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 7.13.

FRANKLIN

Chattanooga wrestler Conner Tolley won his match at 285 pounds as the Mocs defeated Gardner-Webb 37-5.

Senior point guard Tara Parmer scored a game-high 18 points to go with five assists to lead St. Mary-of- the-Woods to an 85-79 triumph at Blackburn.

CENTER GROVE

Freshman golfer Ethan Shepherd won all four of his matches to lead Indiana to a fifth-place effort at the Big Ten Match Play competition in Palm Coast, Florida.

Junior Austin Crowder has been named a co-captain of the IUPUI men’s golf team as the Jaguars prepare for their spring season.

University of Indianapolis senior Casey Wendorff posted a time of 15:37.40 in the 5,000-meter run at the Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State.

Reed Sauter of Franklin College ran a time of 1:59.19 in the 800-meter run at Indiana’s Hoosier Hills Invitational. It’s the second-fastest 800 indoor time in Grizzlies history.

Indiana junior Derek Grimmer won the 400-meter dash in 49.39 seconds at the Hoosier Hills meet. Grimmer also ran on IU’s victorious 4×400 relay that posted a time of 3:17.69.

Purdue senior Justin Veteto had the ninth-fastest time of the 16 qualifiers in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries at 7.97 seconds at the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas.

Jessica Norris, a junior guard at Holy Cross College, scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and had five assists in an 80-60 loss to St. Francis (Illinois). She added two points and nine boards in a 63-38 victory against Trinity International.

Point guard Lauren Rau finished with nine points and five assists in Lipscomb’s 78-57 defeat of North Florida. Rau scored 18 points, had eight rebounds and five assists in Lipscomb’s 70-63 home loss to Jacksonville.

Regan Wentland’s well-rounded game of seven points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals wasn’t enough for Indiana State as it lost to Drake 84-51.

GREENWOOD

Manchester women’s swimmer Bailey Conder helped the Spartans place fourth the 200-yard freestyle relay at the HCAC championships in Terre Haute. Conder also was part of Manchester taking fourth in the 200 medley relay.

Sophomore guard Holly Hoopingarner had two points and three assists in IUPUI’s 94-56 win in women’s basketball against Cleveland State.

WHITELAND

Freshman guard Sydney Crowe finished with five points, four rebounds and two blocks in St. Francis’s 61-52 loss to Indiana Wesleyan. Crowe had six points in her team’s 74-67 loss to Grace College.

INDIAN CREEK

Cincinnati Christian guard Tim Abel poured in a career-high 16 points in a 77-76 loss to Midway. Abel added nine against Carlow in a 81-67 victory and another eight points in the team’s 20-point triumph against Alice Lloyd.

Dylan Phair’s 26 points, four rebounds and two assists helped Indiana Tech defeat Northwest Ohio 87-60. He followed that with 16 points in Tech’s 72-57 win against Lawrence Tech.
