NORTH VERNON
Stephen Gene Emminger, 75, was born January 18, 1943 and passed into the hands of God on February 10, 2018.
Steve leaves his wife of almost 53 years, Martha (Eberhart) Emminger; his son, Todd Ramsey (Terry); son, Rick Ramsey (Tammy); daughter, Stephanie (Emminger) Parmer (Paul II); son Marc Emminger (Cindy).
His 11 grandchildren: Andrew Ramsey (LeAnn), Anna Ramsey, Nathan Brockman (Melissa), Ethan Brockman, Paul Parmer III, Elliott Parmer, Elijah Parmer, Lillie Parmer, Sophia Parmer, Josh Regan (Lindsey), Jennifer Regan Moore (Michael)
9 great-grandchildren: Maddie Ramsey, Hunter Ramsey, Jethro Ramsey, Beau Ramsey, Huxley Rush, Braden Brockman, Jonathan Brockman, Marlee Moore, and Sam Moore and many nieces and nephews.
Stephen was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Emminger; father, Thurman Emminger; and brother, Donald Emminger, and two nieces and nephews.
As a boy, Stephen belonged to Englewood Christian Church in Indianapolis where he was involved in the youth programs with his mother, he was active in the boy scouts, he began delivering newspapers at age 7, and attended IPS #3, and IPS #58.
Stephen was a 1961 graduate of Franklin High School, Franklin, Indiana; he was a Vietnam War Veteran stationed in China who ranked as an SP5 in the MAAG Division of the United States Army, and he was a decorated Marksman with several medals.
Stephen worked for Chevrolet in Indianapolis, was an apprentice electrician, worked for Cummins, worked for the United States Post Office, worked at Federal Chemical as the company manager, owned his own pest control company, and finished his working career with Arvin/Meritor in Franklin and North Vernon in management.
He was a member of the NRA, the NMLRA, and a member of the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association.
Steve’s passions were his family, his friends, fishing, woodworking, building muzzleloaders, spending time at Friendship at his Red Rooster booth, and quality time with his wife, Marty.
Memorial contributions may be made to any church, Heart Association, Lung Association, or any children’s hospital.
There will be no formal service. A memorial service will be held at the Masonic Home in Franklin, Indiana on March 4th 12:00 to 4:00.
Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon were entrusted with the care of arrangements.
