John R. Denien

INDIANAPOLIS

John R. Denien 90, passed away on Saturday February 10, 2018 while on his way to eat lunch with his wife Marjorie to whom he had been married for 70 years.

He was born March 27, 1927 in Salem IN to the late Ralph and Margaret(Kendall) Denien

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. He received his private pilot license in 1947 and was a private pilot until 2010 and a member of the Midwest Navioneers. He also built and raced midget cars with his family until he broke his neck in an accident in 1958 at Salem Speedway.

He started his own business Limestone Garage Inc. Indianapolis in 1964 and is still owned and operated by his family today. John and Marjorie enjoyed traveling with their friends.

He leaves behind is wife Marjorie (Russell) Denien, daughter Annette (Brian) Johnson, sons Gary (Mary) Denien, John(Teresa) Denien. Grandchildren Leslie (John) Sweet, Daniel (Kristy) Denien, Michael Denien. Great grandchildren Austin, Lillian Hannah and Rene Denien.

John was preceded in death by both parents and a grandson Gary R. Denien.

Visitation is Thursday February 15, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East from 4- 8 pm

Funeral services will be Friday February 16, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
