NEW YORK — Police say a man is facing hate crime charges in connection to the knife slashing of another man who out walking with his son.

Authorities say the 24-year-old Bronx man was arrested on Saturday and faces charges including assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment as a hate crime, along with criminal possession of a weapon.

The 41-year-old victim told police he was walking on East 139th Street in the afternoon of February 1 with his one-year-old son when an unknown man came up behind him and slashed him twice in the face.

The Daily News reports the victim, an immigrant, says his attacker cursed at him during the assault.
