AURORA, Colo. — Police in a Denver suburb say one of their officers shot a man dead during a traffic stop.

Aurora police officer Diana Cooley says in a blog post the shooting happened after officers approached a man in his car late Saturday.

Cooley says the man was pronounced dead later at a hospital.

The Aurora Sentinel reports no officers were hurt.

Cooley says police found a weapon in the man’s car. She did not identify the weapon but says at least one officer is on paid leave while the shooting is investigated.
