PITTSFORD, Vt. — Residents of a Vermont town are deciding what to do with a former dairy farm that is being offered to the town as a gift.

Betsy and Baird Morgan bought the Village Farm near the heart of Pittsford last year with the aim of donating it to the town. Residents were asked to generate ideas for ways to use it, and the options were narrowed to three at a public meeting Thursday.

The Rutland Herald reports that the top three choices are a community center and gathering place, a community gardens and agricultural hub, and a commercial and retail location.

About 100 people attended the meeting. It was moderated by Jenna Koloski of the Vermont Council on Rural Development, who called it a unique project.
