County sheriff’s office warns of scam phone calls

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for residents to be alert to a scam where a man claiming to be a sheriff’s office employee is calling to demand money.

The man, who identifies himself as Sgt. Davis with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, has been telling residents that there is a warrant for their arrest and that they need to pay him, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office news release said.

The person is not associated with the sheriff’s office, and calls requesting payment are never made by the sheriff’s office, the release said.
