BOSTON — Two men have been arrested in the shooting death of a Massachusetts teen.

Boston police say 18-year-old Rishaard Sheppard and 18-year-old Branden Singleton, both of the city’s Dorchester neighborhood, were charged with murder Friday.

The men are accused of killing 17-year-old Chad O’Connor, of Boston, on a Dorchester street on Jan. 14. He was found with gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Commissioner William Evans said the arrest sends a “loud, clear message that gun violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our city.”

Sheppard and Singleton are scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday. It is unclear whether they have obtained attorneys.

Police say they are still investigating the shooting.
