Mildred Jeanne Suding

COLUMBIA CITY

Mildred “Jeanne” Suding, age 95, of Columbia City, IN, formerly of Greenwood, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 in Fort Wayne.

Mildred was born on May 15, 1922 in Indianapolis, IN. She was adopted by Marion and Susanna (Miller) Riley early in her life. Sadly, the Riley’s passed away while Mildred was in high school. Edwin and Etta Riegel, friends and neighbors of the Riley’s, took Mildred in and raised her as their own. She graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1940. She married the love of her life, John T. Suding, on June 7, 1941. While John was off fighting in WWII, she worked at Allison’s to support the war effort. She was a home maker and loved and adored her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Jackie M. Baker (Kenneth), of Columbia City; four grandchildren, Tracey, Jeffrey, Lori, and Daniel; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John T. Suding; one son, Larry Suding; one brother, Leebert Riegel; one sister Edell Baird; and one grandson, Gregory.

Funeral services for Mildred will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel. The family will receive guests from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
