SALISBURY, Md. — Authorities say a Delaware woman who struck an officer in the face has been charged.

A Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office news release says a deputy saw 19-year-old Taylor Ann Thompson striking another female subject Wednesday.

Authorities say the deputy approached the vehicle and knocked on the window with no response from Thompson. The deputy opened the door in an effort to stop the assault.

Authorities say Taylor ignored the deputy’s request to exit the vehicle, continued yelling at her passenger, and began making disparaging statements toward the deputy.

The deputy tried to assist the woman from the vehicle, but she resisted that effort and struck the deputy in the face.

Thompson was charged with resisting arrest and other offenses. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer.
