Allie L. Spitler Helm

GREENWOOD, IN.

Allie L. (Thomas) Spitler Helm 91 of Greenwood, IN. passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at Aspen Trace Health and Living in Greenwood. She was born September 11, 1926 in Henderson, KY. To Otto Thomas and Mary Genevieve (Clark) Thomas. She married Ralph H. Spitler on December 5, 1952, he preceded her in death on February 18, 1984. She later married Raymond Joseph “Joe” Helm on October 12, 1984 and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2008. She had been a school crossing guard in Okeechobee, FL., and a staff assistant to Dr. Norman Koff also in Okeechobee, FL. She previously had been a certified nursing assistant at Westminster at Greenwood Village. She was a member of Our Lady of The Greenwood Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Okeechobee, FL. She enjoyed volunteering, cooking for the Nun’s at Our Lady of The Greenwood Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign War Post in Okeechobee, FL., knitting, crocheting, and crafts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Survivors include her children Mary Ann Hightshue (Danny) of Mooresville, IN., Sharon S. Edwards (Jack) of Indianapolis, IN., Donna M. Austgen of Greenwood, IN., Bill Spitler (Val) of Sarasota, FL., and Diane L. Maddox (Pete) of Indianapolis, IN., 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and siblings. Father Michael Keucher will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 12 Noon at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church 345 South Meridian Street in Greenwood where friends may call from 10 AM Monday till service time at the church. A family graveside service will take place on Monday at New Vermillion Cemetery in West Terre Haute, IN.
