Forecasters cautioned motorists across parts of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas to beware of icy roads as sleet and freezing rain bear down on the region.

The worst weather was expected Wednesday morning in north-central Arkansas, where the National Weather Service posted an ice storm warning into Wednesday morning. Advisories were also posted for eastern and southern Oklahoma and parts of north Texas. By late Wednesday, the icing will have moved off to the northeast.

Forecasters cautioned the amounts could bring down power lines and tree limbs.

Skies are expected to begin clearing Wednesday with temperatures in the region expected to reach the upper 30s to mid-40s.
