SALEM, Ore. — A Salem man has been sentenced to more than 18 years in prison for encouraging child sex abuse.

The Statesman Journal reported Wednesday that 34-year-old Kyle David Boyd was sentenced on 15 first-degree felonies.

Court documents say Boyd had pleaded guilty in October to unlawfully and knowingly making “a duplicate visual recording of sexually explicit conduct involving a child while knowing the duplication involved child abuse.”

Boyd had been a longtime employee at Gallagher Fitness and ran in several local races. He was arrested and indicted by a grand jury early last year.

Boyd has been ordered to register as a sex offender.
