LAS VEGAS — Police say an employee was shot multiple times and the shooter was also wounded following an altercation outside a grocery store in east Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Walmart Neighborhood Market employee was shot Thursday night after the encounter with a man in the parking lot.

Las Vegas police say the wounded employee went inside the store, and a second employee confronted the shooter.

Police Lt. Daniel Alvarado says the second employee wrestled the gun away, but the gunman was shot in the leg during the struggle.

The wounded employee was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery. Police say the shooter was taken into custody and treated for his wound.

Police say customers were inside the store during shooting, but no one else was injured.
