BILLINGS, Mont. — A man suspected in a botched vehicle theft foiled by a pickup truck owner and his girlfriend has been charged.

The Billings Gazette reports 23-year-old Rusty Shane Castro was charged with felony theft and a first offense misdemeanor theft on Thursday in Yellowstone County Justice Court.

The justice court clerk tells The Associated Press that Castro’s case was appointed to the public defender’s office, but he does not have a specific attorney yet.

According to the charges, Castro stole the truck when Dudes Adams was inside a store visiting his girlfriend.

The couple pursued Castro and Adams managed to jump on the pickup bed and kicked in the rear window attempting to reach Castro.

Castro got out of the truck before it crashed into a light post.

Adams was injured in the incident.
