BELVEDERE PARK, Ga. — Police say a nightclub security guard in metro Atlanta fatally shot a customer who had gone to his car after an argument and returned with a gun.

DeKalb County police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell tells news outlets the 26-year-old man was killed early Friday outside Lavish Bistro in Belvedere Park southeast of Decatur.

WSB-TV reports the nightclub had closed before the shooting. Employees had removed all the customers when the man was turned away at the front door.

Police say the man threatened the guard that he’d return with his gun. The guard fired his own gun before the man was able to fire his. No one else was shot.

Police determined the shooting was justified and the guard won’t be charged. The names of those involved haven’t been released.
