DUIRHAM, N.C. — Authorities say a North Carolina man has been arrested in connection with a 2017 shooting death.

A news release from the Durham Police Department says its officers and members of the U.S. Marshals Service Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested 26-year-old Kalid Gillard on Thursday at an apartment.

Gillard is charged in the shooting death of 26-year-old Monterrio Deante Carter. According to the news release, officers responding to a shooting call late on July 28, 2017, found Carter had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to an indictment, Gillard is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted. He is jailed without bond in the Durham County jail, and it’s not known if he has an attorney.
