Forrest Joseph “Joe” Rupe, 78, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 30th, 2018. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on December 2, 1939 in Vincennes. His parents were Frances (Teaman) Rupe and Cecil Dalton.

He married Linda (Sawyer) Rupe on July 1, 1966. She lovingly survives.

Other survivors are two daughters, Brenda (Mark) McLean and Susan (Mohamed) Hmami; grandchildren, Haley (Austin) Herr, Brian McLean, Whitney (Robbie) Harpel, Lauren Keller, Emily Keller, Layla Hmami, Riad Hmami and Kaleel Hmami; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are seven brothers, Frank, Bill, Cecil, Darrell, Tony and Rod Rupe and John Cline.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; and stepfather, Darrell Rupe.

Joe was a 1959 graduate of Speedway High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.

Joe was a police officer for 40 years. He also worked for the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy as an Instructor. He also served on the Swat Team as the team leader for several years.

He was an avid bicycle rider and was very athletic.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, February 2 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Military honors will be held immediately following visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home by the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 and the United States Marine Corps.
