Jack D. Riser, 85, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018.
Jack was born to the late Maurice L. Riser and Verina H. Mayer in 1932 in Indianapolis. After graduating high school, Jack went on to enlist in the Air Force for three years. He also enlisted in the Army. On October 4, 1953, Jack married Gloria Austin in Nashville, Indiana. He was an inspector for the Indiana National Guard in the Department of Defense for 30 years, retiring in November of 1991. Jack loved to travel, he was always up for an adventure. Jack loved music, he learned how to play the drums and guitar. He always enjoyed a good game of golf. Jack was a lifetime member of the VFW # 5864, American Legion #252, and the Moose Lodge #2079 of Greenwood. He was also a member of the Greenwood Wesleyan Church.
Jack is survived by his wife, Gloria, two children: Richard (Jackie, daughter-in-law) Riser of Indianapolis, and Katherine Jo Kindred of Martinsville; nine grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be Monday January 22 at 1p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. 31, Whiteland. The family will receive visitors on Sunday January 21 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. You may leave condolences at www.jessenfuneralhomes.com
