Indianapolis wrestler hits .500 mark

Redshirt junior D.J. Smith was one of the University of Indianapolis wrestlers to win his match in the Greyhounds’ 22-13 win against Tiffin at the Wisconsin-Parkside Ranger Duals.

Competing at 125 pounds, the Franklin Community High School graduate defeated Guiseppe Penzone 4-3 to even his season record at 11-11.

FRANKLIN

Senior point guard Tara Parmer tallied four points and grabbed seven rebounds in St. Mary-of-the-Woods’ 108-59 loss to IU-Northwest in women’s basketball.

Adam Destrampe produced a third-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle as Indiana’s fourth-ranked swimming and diving team defeated No. 8 Michigan, 170.5-129.5. The junior also came in fourth in the 500 free in a time of 4:27.73.

CENTER GROVE

Lipscomb freshman sprinter Grant Mason placed seventh in the final of the 60-meter dash at the Commodore Invitational indoor track and field meet hosted by Vanderbilt. Mason’s time was 7.03 seconds. He was ninth in the 200 in 22.41.

Sophomore guard Lauren Rau scored 12 points, including 10 from the free-throw line, to help Lipscomb score a 73-69 victory at North Florida. Rau also finished with four assists and two steals.

Junior guard/forward Regan Wentland finished with three points, five rebounds and two assists in Indiana State’s 59-53 loss at Northern Iowa.

Eastern Kentucky freshman Val Clark had two points and a rebound in her team’s 69-55 loss at Miami of Ohio.

Holy Cross College junior Jessica Norris scored 14 points, grabbed a team-high 10 boards and had three assists in a 72-62 home loss to St. Ambrose (Iowa). She added 20 points, five assists and a steal in a loss to Governors State.

Adrian (Michigan) men’s basketball defeated Hope 74-63 as freshman guard Kas Oganowski had three points and a steal in the win.

GREENWOOD

IUPUI guard Holly Hoopingarner had four points and two rebounds off the bench in her team’s 60-36 home loss to Green Bay.

Reserve guard Jae Taft collected two rebounds to go along with an assist in Olivet Nazarene’s 97-80 win against Robert Morris. The sophomore poured in 13 points and collected two boards in a 114-72 win against IU-South Bend.

INDIAN CREEK

Indiana men’s swimmer Levi Brock took fifth place in the 100-yard breaststroke as the Hoosiers won at Michigan. Brock also finished eighth in the 200 breaststroke.

Indiana Tech’s 74-63 conquest of Siena Heights included four points, an assist and a steal from junior guard Dylan Phair. In a two-point overtime loss to Madonna, Phair produced 12 points and four rebounds.

Freshman guard Tim Abel scored 10 points for Cincinnati Christian in its 102-97 victory against Ohio Christian.

WHITELAND

Sidney Crowe finished with six points, five assists and a steal for St. Francis in its 82-68 win against Indiana Wesleyan. She totaled 11 points, four rebounds and three steals in an 82-45 romp against Spring Arbor.

Reserve Kate White scored two points and snagged a rebound in Indiana Tech’s 74-43 defeat of Madonna.
