Feathered facts: Library hosting falcon demonstration, discussion

Bird lovers can meet a falcon up close in an upcoming demonstration.

The Franklin branch of the Johnson County Public Library, 401 State St., is conducting a falcon demonstration at 1 p.m. Jan. 27.

Jeff Canada at the Indiana Audubon Society will talk specifically about the American Kestrel, which is the smallest falcon in North America. They are found in Indiana but over the years, the numbers are declining.

Canada will discuss why the falcon is in decline. Program goers can also meet one of the falcons. The bird is provided by the Upper Wabash Interpretive Services.

Patrons are encouraged to register by calling the library at 317-738-2833.
