HOUSTON — A 14-year-old boy is recovering from a gunshot wound to his chest after authorities say he was shot for refusing to give up his shoes.

Harris County deputies say the teenager was walking in a neighborhood Friday night when he was approached by two men who demanded his shoes.

As the boy turned and ran, he was shot.

Deputies are investigating. The wounded teen is expected to recover.
