Car hits home off U.S. 31

A home south of Greenwood was damaged Thursday morning after police said a vehicle traveling too fast around a curve slid off a wet road.

Jacob Sims, 28, of Greenwood, told deputies that he was driving north on County Road 25W at about 8:55 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of his car as the road was curving into Pushville Road, just west of U.S. 31, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Sim’s vehicle went off the road, striking a flagpole, some landscaping and then a home on Pushville Road. The crash shifted the home off its foundation, the report said.

Pictures of the home showed cracks in the foundation, drywall and ceiling, Sheriff Doug Cox said.

Sims was given a written citation for not have current insurance, speeding and a failure to change the address on his driver’s license, the report said.
