CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A February sentencing has been scheduled for a man who carried a sawed-off shotgun into a Cedar Rapids city building.

Court records say 42-year-old Russell Howard has pleaded guilty to unauthorized possession of offensive weapons and to carrying weapons. Howard originally pleaded not guilty. His sentencing is set for Feb. 13 in Linn County District Court.

Police say Howard was a city employee when he took the shotgun into the City Services Center on Aug. 23. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported. Police have said they believed he intended to harm himself.
