Warriors top Lancers

Brennan Neal scored 19 points as Whiteland built a 10-point halftime lead and held it for a 66-56 home win against Edinburgh in the consolation round of the Johnson County Boys Basketball Tournament on Thursday.

Chase Ferguson and Carter Crowe added 11 and 10 points for the Warriors (5-6), who will face Greenwood Christian in the fifth-place game Saturday. Christian Cox was the lone player in double figures for the Lancers (8-6) with 21 points.

Swimming and diving

Greenwood tops Hornets

In a dual meet against Beech Grove on Thursday, Greenwood’s swept all 12 events on the way to a 129-51 victory. The Woodmen lost the boys meet 119-61.

Alayna Kenworthy (100 butterfly and breaststroke) and Grace Nuhfer (50 and 100 freestyle) were double winners for the Woodmen girls. Also taking individual victories were Ashley Brown (200 freestyle), Rachel Knight (individual medley), Faith Jackson (diving), Alex Wilson (500 freestyle) and Caroline Marot (backstroke).

Gabe Ellington was the lone winner for the Greenwood boys, taking first in the 200 IM.

Rebels settle for split

Roncalli managed a split of a three-way meet with Warren Central and Indianapolis Herron, defeating the runner-up Warriors 214-196 in the girls meet and suffering a tight 214-210 setback on the boys side.

Roncalli placed second in a three-way meet Thursday, narrowly falling to Noblesville by a 97.475 to 94.625 score.
