CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A second man has been arrested in the August shooting death of a man in North Carolina’s largest city.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Lt. Andrew Harris said in a news release Thursday that 21-year-old Lemeek Singleton has been charged with first-degree murder.

Singleton is charged in the Aug. 8 shooting death of 25-year-old Kyyri De Ji Marquis Doggette. He was found dead in a vehicle in southeast Charlotte.

Twenty-three-year-old Andre Earl Brooks was arrested in November and charged with murder, shooting into an occupied property, as well as being a felon in possession of a gun.

Harris said Singleton was already in custody on unrelated charges when he was charged with Doggette’s death. It was not known if Singleton has an attorney yet.
