DOVER, Pa. — A Pennsylvania high school girls’ assistant basketball coach has been charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old female student and basketball player.

Twenty-three-year-old Aignee Nicole Freeland of York is charged with institutional sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor.

Police say Dover Area School District officials notified them Dec. 20 of the allegations against the Dover Area High School junior varsity coach, who was immediately suspended.

Police say the girl’s cellphone showed numerous contacts, including 18 video calls. Northern Regional Police say they trying to determine “if additional victims exist.”

The school district says Freeland was a coach but not a teacher and the district doesn’t condone such actions.

Defense attorney R.J. Fisher said “This is a complicated situation” and his office is reviewing the charges.”
