Norma J. Taylor

MORGANTOWN

Norma J. (Fortner) Taylor, age 90, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 7, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Morgantown and a former resident of Indianapolis.

Norma was born November 2, 1927, in Princeton, to the late William Jackson and Eunice (Jines) Fortner. She was a 1945 graduate of Princeton High School. Norma married Charles W. Taylor on April 6, 1946 in Morganfield, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1979 after 33 devoted years of marriage.

Norma was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was an avid reader of her Bible and enjoyed participating in bible studies at the Morgantown First Christian Church where she had been a member for over 20 years. Norma enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking. She will be remembered for her delicious cakes, cookies and pies. Norma enjoyed the outdoors by playing golf, walking and tending to her flower gardens. She also enjoyed watching golf on television with Tiger Woods as her favorite golfer.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam Hastings and Cheryl (Dave) Holt, both of Morgantown; grandchildren, David (Dawn) Hastings of Perryville, KY, Jason (Jennifer) Burton of Brownsburg and Julie (Brian) Pinkins of Avon; great grandchildren, Ashley (Jon) Trietsch of Avon, Ella Burton of Brownsburg, Owen Burton of Brownsburg, Brooklyn Pinkins of Avon, David W. Hastings Jr. of Nashville, TN, Sumer Rae Hastings of Smyrna, TN, Shelby (Josh) Painter of Hustonville, KY, Lindsey, Cassidy and Taylor Wiseman all of Brownsburg; great-great granddaughter, Adalynn Lynn Trietsch of Avon.

Norma was preceded in death by siblings, Kenneth, J.D. & Paul Fortner and Alma Singleton.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Morgantown First Christian Church, 2717 S. Morgantown Road. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown. Burial will be Greenwood Cemetery.
