WOODFIN, N.C. — Authorities in North Carolina say a Tennessee motorist who was driving the wrong way has died.

News outlets report that Woodfin police said the accident occurred Saturday on U.S. 19 South between exits 24 and 25.

Police Chief Michael Dykes said in a statement that 74-year-old Jimmy A. Davis, of Nashville, was driving the wrong way, and struck a passenger car head-on.
