Caucus set for replacing Trafalgar council seat

The Johnson County Republic Party will host a caucus later this month to fill a Trafalgar Town Council seat.

Council member Betty Davis resigned at the start of the year, and the party is required by state law to have a caucus and appoint someone to serve the remainder of her term, which ends Dec. 31, 2019, according to a news release.

“We appreciate Betty’s decades of support and involvement in the community,” Johnson County Republic Party Chairwoman Beth Boyce said.

The caucus is set for 7 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Trafalgar Town Hall. Four precinct committee members from precincts Hensley and Nineveh townships will vote on who will be the next town council member.

Any Trafalgar residents interested in the position need to send a letter expressing their interest to Boyce at 845 Richart Lane, Greenwood, IN 46142 postmarked no later than Jan. 27. Boyce also can be reached at 317-445-1373.

No candidates have officially expressed interest in the position yet, Boyce said.
