Investigators are looking for the public’s help finding two men who they said stole a resident’s van, but got away after the resident chased after them.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to Greensburg Road, near Umbarger Lane, east of Franklin just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday. A resident said he was chasing after two men who had stolen his van from his nearby home, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
The resident caught up to the two men and got them to stop, but one ran and another drove off in another vehicle, a white Ford van, after he threw a frozen water bottle, breaking the window. The men left the resident’s van behind, the report said.
Sheriff’s deputies used a police dog to search for the man who ran, but were not able to locate him, the report said.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the theft or the van the man drove away in to call their tip line at 317-346-4654.
