A. Wayne Ferrill

A. Wayne Ferrill, 73, died on Friday, January 5, 2018, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born to Colby and Gertrude (Judd) Ferrill in Greensburg, Kentucky, on April 15, 1944, Wayne was the middle child of three brothers, Russ (Donna) Ferrill of Franklin and Larry (Nancy) Ferrill of Indianapolis. Wayne was a 1962 graduate of Greenwood High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Butler University in 1967.

He married Karen (Jameson) Ferrill on June 19, 1966. He was a registered pharmacist who served the southside community first at Commiskey Drugs in Greenwood, then at SUPERx, Hook’s, Revco, CVS, and finally at Target. He retired from community pharmacy practice on January 3, 2011. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenwood since 1950 and was also a member of the Southport Lions Club for over 30 years.

Wayne enjoyed pontoon boating on Lake Monroe, motorhome camping, riding his 100th Anniversary 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King, Lions projects, and church work.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen, of Greenwood; daughter, Jill (Mark) Carnell of Mooresville; son, Dr. Kyle (Lexa) Ferrill of Germantown, Tennessee; grandchildren Patrick Carnell, Leo Ferrill, and Ruth Ferrill; his brothers, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling is at Wilson St. Pierre Greenwood Chapel, 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, from 4-7 pm. His funeral is on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Greenwood, 99 West Main Street, Greenwood, at noon, with a calling at 11:00 am.
