MONTPELIER, Vt. — Vermont school children are being invited to submit entries to the annual Green Up Vermont contest that will mark this year’s Green Up Day when volunteers pick up trash across the state.

Any student in kindergarten through grade 12 may submit one entry for poster design and writing.

One entry will be selected as the official poster for Green Up Day, which will be held this year on May 5. Poster entries must be submitted by Jan. 31.

Writing entries of no more than 200 words must be about why Green Up Day is important. Writing entries must be received by March 1.

The winner of each contest will receive $250.
