KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police say a man found dead inside a parked car in the far east side of Kansas City, Missouri, is the city’s first homicide of the year.

The Kansas City Star reports that the man’s body was found Thursday night near U.S. 40 and Manchester Trafficway.

Investigators have not said how the man died or released the victim’s name. Police have made no arrests and have asked the public for any information on the death.

In 2017, there were 149 homicides reported, the highest number since 1993. That year, the city had 153 killings.
