Police: Men arrested after theft, pursuit

Two men were arrested after a theft was reported in Edinburgh and two men led a deputy on a chase.

Chuckie Hardman, 43, of Flat Rock, and Corey Spears, 28, of Trafalgar, were arrested on a charge of theft.

At about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, a sheriff’s deputy was driving on County Road 800E looking for a vehicle that Edinburgh police were searching for after a theft was reported. The deputy spotted a car matching the description given to police and tried to stop it, but the driver did not stop. While the car still was moving, Hardman jumped out of the vehicle and ran toward a farmhouse, ignoring the deputy’s commands to stop, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
