JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. — State police say a motorist who officers were pursuing for speeding died in a crash in Westmoreland County.

Police say 56-year-old Donald Smith of Armbrust was fleeing on Route 119 in Hempfield Township on Thursday night when he couldn’t negotiate a curve. His vehicle crossed into the other lane and crashed into a utility pole and tree.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
