PROVO, Utah — A Utah woman was sentenced to one to 15 years in prison after authorities say she attempted to hire a hitman to kill the father of her children.

The Deseret News reports 49-year-old Cindy Lynn Riggins was sentenced Tuesday after she pleaded guilty in November to the felony charge of attempted criminal solicitation for murder.

Prosecutors say the Provo woman told a friend that she wanted the man dead, and the friend informed police.

Prosecutors say a meeting was set up in August between Riggins and an undercover police officer who posed as a hired killer.

Prosecutors say Riggins agreed to pay $135 and methamphetamine in exchange for the man’s death. She was arrested shortly after the meeting.

Police say Riggins and the man were never married.
