Police looking for suspects who pepper sprayed store employee

Greenwood police are asking the public for help identifying three women who they say stole clothing from a store at the Greenwood Park Mall and pepper sprayed an employee who confronted them.

On Dec. 19, a J.C. Penney employee told police she that she saw three women placing a large amount of clothing in bags. When one of the women walked through the store’s exit without paying for the clothing, the alarm sounded, and the woman ran, a Greenwood Police Department report said.

A store security officer yelled for the woman, and one of the other two women pulled out a can of pepper spray and sprayed it in the employee’s face as she ran toward the door, the report said.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the women. Anyone with information can call the police department’s tip line at 317-865-0300.
