MOREHEAD, Ky. — Montell Goodwin made four 3-pointers and scored 20 points with five assists as Eastern Illinois defeated Morehead State for its first win in Ohio Valley Conference play Thursday night.

Goodwin was 6 of 17 shooting, 4 of 9 from distance, mirroring the overall percentages in a game where both teams struggled. Eastern Illinois made 21 of 58 (36 percent) and Morehead State 18 of 47 (38 percent).

Jajuan Starks added 15 points for Eastern Illinois (5-9, 1-2). Muusa Dama scored on a pair of late drives that ended a scoreless streak of nearly five minutes and blunted a Morehead State comeback. He finished with 10 points.

Lamontray Harris led the Eagles (4-10, 0-3) with 17 points, nine rebounds.

The Panthers missed their first shot, fell behind 2-0 and then put together a run by Starks, who scored six, and Montell Goodwin with a 3-pointer and the Panthers led from there. A string of three turnovers and a miss in the last four minutes opened the door for Morehead State.
